Trip to Tybee Island

Today was really awesome.  We went and visited Tybee Island.  Right now it is off season so we got to check it out when there

wasnt any traffic or confusion all over the road.  It wasnt as big as I thought it would be, but it really was cool to see all those humongous boats.  I think one of the things that really amazed me was the vast marsh that was along the road to Tybee Island.  No telling what kind of creatures that are out there!

Tybee Island is about 20 miles from our house in Savannah, GA.  It really is a straight drive too! So when we first got to the island, we HAD to get out and see the salt water!  This beach was much different that the others I have been too.  The weather was cloudy and a bit cool, but it didnt seem to bother Reilly too much.  As soon as his feet hit the ground he was off and running!  He was going to make the best of it too.

Since we are the only ones on the beach, I was able to get some pretty good pictures.  Some of my favorite are the ones we took on the Jetty.  Reilly was slightly excited about climbing those big rocks!  He even pretended to beat up one of the big rocks.  I dont know what got into him but he thought it was funny to pick on that poor rock.  I have to admit, it was pretty funny too.  We let Reilly goof off in the sand for awhile before we headed back.  Of coarse he cried for "The Big Water and Big Sand."  We felt so bad that we had to go.

We thought it would be a good idea to stop by the Visitor Center on Tybee Island and pick up some brochures.  We never dreamed that there would be so many things to do in the area.  They even had attractions for Savannah too.  I got on one side of the wall and Nathan got on the other and we started picking out brochures left and right.  We have a whole collection of choices for this summer!

When we left the Visitor Center with our mound of papers, we headed to go and see some other things like the light house, Marine Life Center, and some other history land markers.  Not much that you can really do in the off season, but it was still cool to drive by and see everything.

We hope to get to do more this summer.  Until then here are some pictures of our visit to Tybee Island, GA.
